I lost my husband on May 30, 2000. He was playing basketball locally with our 7 year old son and when he came home 3 hours later, he complained of a headache and said there was a very aggressive player and he was very angry. He started to complain of spots before his eyes and 20 minutes later my son and I found him having a seizure in our bedroom. I called 911 and he was rushed to the emergency room. I could not believe what was happening as it all felt like a dream. The doctors said it was fairly good news that he did not have alot of bleeding on his brain but quite a bit of swelling apparently he was hit very hard on the side of the temple while playing ball. After 3 days of a coma like state, the doctors new something was wrong. To make a long story short, they found that the main carodid artery leading to his brain was dissected. After a week in the hospital, he was pronounced "brain dead". I had to make the decision to take him off of life support and donate his organs to needy recipients. We found out later that his actual cause of death was pneumonia. My son and I are trying to keep faith and know that God has a plan for us even though it hurts more than words can ever explain. I just pray that someday I'll find peace and the hurt that I feel will not be so intense. I miss him so much and life feels like a dream.
