Moses, Yours is a Godly name, one that speaks of wandering…a journey. My wife passed away December 23,1998. She, also, was the love of my life. I miss her with every fiber that is me, for she taught me love. The love she embodied lives on. That is alive in you, too. Your longing is an affirmation of love you have known in your wife…from your wife. Love is not a person. It exists to be shared. My guilt was born because she was not there to share in the joy I found. She is there, though…she made the discovery possible…she made the longing possible. Had I not known her, I would not have known love. There is a poem found on the pages of this bulletin board titled: When I die. Let it speak to you as it did to me.
I am still looking for her eyes in those of another…of a different hue. Her hair will be of a different color, but I will know the touch of her hand.
We, as humans, have an inexhaustible and boundless capacity to love. We can love more than one. We love our children, our parents. When a new child is born, we do not have to redistribute our love to accommodate the newest member. We simply open our hearts and make room. So too can we as widows and widowers open our lives and hearts to another. In doing so, we honor that which was given us.
Your journey is a long one. Share the steps, the discoveries. God Bless - David
