I could not believe the subject "Boyfriend of 6 years died suddenly at 24"...mainly because I felt that NO ONE would ever understand the pain and loss that I feel. February 20,2001 my fiance (were were making it official this year and planned on getting married October 2002, and had been together for 6 years) died after being in the hospital for 50 days at the age of 26. He had Crohn's Disease, and although none of us knew you could die from it, he did. Lou's intestines were so weak and damaged from this disease (which he saw numerous doctor's for every month), that on January 2, his small intestine ruptured, and his system was basically poisened. After 7 weeks in the hospital and 7 operations his body could no longer hold up.
Someone told me that I must have felt like I was in hell during this time....my feelings toward that remark? I am still there. He was my best friend, we did everything together. Friends said we were like one person...the perfect couple - all this while he was alive, not just to comfort me after his death. I cannot believe that this has happened, I have mornings too where I wake up and think he his still here...then reality hits and I lose him all over again. It has been almost 6 months and when I think of him, my heart still hurts. There is so much left undone and unsaid. The day he got so sick he had gotten a promotion and called me at my job to tell me about it...that was at 1:30 in the afternoon. I was so proud of him, and excited that finally all of our planning and hard work were starting to pay off and our future was shaping up. That enjoyment only lasted 1 hour...that was when I was called by his boss to meet them at the hospital.
