Sandra...You must be in a warmer climate than me because my husband died 03/15/00 and I am just now defrosting. Spent the anniversary of his death camping alone along the Oregon coast, thinking that I needed to be alone...only learned that I had to face the fact that I was alone...this did not make me happy....big reality check! I am also a 39 year old widow, he (42) died of a rare blood clot in his brain, also 6 months after a diagnosis of colorectal cancer which he was doing quite well for. Slipped in to a coma on our 12th wedding anniversary, died 3 days later. We were together over 20 years of which most of the time revolved around raising his son, now a 24 year old very sad young man. Took the stupid coroner 9 months to give me "official" cause of death, conducted an autopsy without my permission (heartless), with an end result that corresponded with the opinion of all 5 attending doctors. Steve always said he had "buzzard" luck ... you know, when anything that can throw a wrench in the flow of things does?
Here I am a year later looking for someone who understands our generation of widowhood and I read your letter of a month ago, filled with the type of wit and pain filled humor that speaks to my soul. So if you are still checking out this board to see who wrote you back...post me a note. I have two ears to listen with, a few tears to share, and a definite knack for all things electronic..ie VCR's. (Was my job...not his). He cooked an awesome vegetable beef soup.
I too could use a time out! Is there such a thing as a "Lemon Drop" or "Hefeweizen" on line...?
