Dear Kenetta: My older sister died in 1993 of complications from a brain tumor. She was 12 years older than me, so she had always been more like a mother. We had expected to lose her many years prior to her death, so I guess in some ways, we were prepared and simply fortunate to keep her as long as we did.
I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine losing someone to violence. My husband died in June, so I am still in a pretty deep grieving process.
I will light a candle for your brother tonight.
