The Book is a compendium of facts, customs, mores, folklore traditions and superstitions concerning widows and widowhood since time began. The book is informative and a time humorous. It was written to help the widow understand this new station in life.

Noted TV talksowh host Tom Snyder has said how much he enjoyed the book and thought that some husbands would treat their wives differently having read the the book and learning what happens to wives when the husband has gone.
